Stone Origins

The Origins directory groups approved profiles by the country recorded in their reviewed catalogue sources: Brazil, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Norway, Pakistan, Portugal, Spain and Turkey. Country supports material identity and sourcing context, but it does not prove quarry, block, chain of custody, quality, stock or compliance for a proposed shipment.

Origin supports identity and traceability

A country relationship helps users navigate commercial stone names and identify the source context recorded for a profile. More precise provenance may require quarry, region, block, supplier and shipment documentation. The public directory publishes only what the reviewed profile sources support and avoids turning a broad national label into a claim about one quarry, factory, certification or trading relationship.

Do not use geography as a quality shortcut

Stone can vary within a deposit and between blocks, while processing, reinforcement, finish, packing and handling add separate variables. A country's reputation cannot replace current-lot inspection or technical evidence. Compare the actual material identity, proposed pieces and documents needed for the service condition instead of assuming that origin alone predicts appearance, durability, ethics or commercial reliability.

Build a provenance-aware RFQ

If provenance matters, ask for the commercial name, quarry or extraction area where available, supplier identity, block or lot reference, processing location, certificates required by the project and shipment documents. Record which claims have been independently checked and which are supplier declarations. The enquiry should also state destination, Incoterm expectations, packing, inspection and replacement strategy.

Written confirmation

What to include in the next brief.

  1. Confirm the commercial material identity and recorded country relationship.
  2. Request the quarry, region, block, supplier and processor details required by the project.
  3. Specify documents, inspection, packing, logistics and replacement-piece requirements.
  4. Record which provenance statements are verified evidence and which remain supplier declarations.
