Polishing can make crystalline structure, veining and translucent-looking areas read with greater depth. It is often considered for statement interiors, counters, vanities or walls where reflection supports the design. The effect is material-specific: a dense granite, veined marble, quartzite or onyx will not produce the same surface, and treatments or repairs can become more visible.
Gloss level, waviness, resin, filler, scratches, edge polish and light reflection vary with equipment, stone fabric and quality control. Dark polished fields may show dust, fingerprints or water marks; calcite-rich surfaces can show chemical etching. A catalogue tag cannot establish slip performance or maintenance.
